About

The Hotel Riazor is located in the historic district of Catete, Flamengo, Rio de Janeiro's second largest hotel region, and offers quick access to various points of the Marvelous City. Its prime location offers a number of advantages in terms of position and mobility.

History

The Hotel Riazor was founded in 1891 and was called "Pension SCHRAY" (Pension was what it was called at the time, the lodging establishments).

Located in what was the Largo do Valdetaro, near there was a monumental fountain that entered history, because in 1896 it was transferred to the gardens of the current Palace of the Catete - Museum of the Republic.

On the occasion of the renovation that transformed the mansion into the Presidential Palace, a monogram with the initials "BNF" (Barão de Nova Friburgo) was carved in the fountain, incorporating to it the statue " The born of Venus". In the mid-1960s the hotel was renamed "Monte Blanco", and in the early 1990's "Hotel Riazor".

Location

Situated opposite the entrance of Catete Metro station and close to several bus stops;

Facing the Museum of the Republic and its gardens and the Museum of Folklore;

A few meters from Flamengo Beach and Park - one of the great leisure and gastronomy areas, with a marina, known as "Marina da Glória", which was totally revitalized and reintegrated into Flamengo Park.

Five minutes from Lapa (Rio bohemian pole) and the City Center and 10 minutes from Santos Dumont Airport and Copacabana Beach, with easy access to Cristo Redentor and Sugar Loaf Mountain.
